Dr
Ross Blanks B.V.Sc 1977

I have worked as a Veterinarian at the HVC for 30 years, after
graduating from Massey in 1977. I previously worked in Darfield, before
working in the UK in Gillingham, Enfield, Potters Bar,

Animals are my life, I wanted to be a vet since I was 12 years old. I
enjoy creating a climate where vets and vet nurses enjoy their work and
provide the best possible care for the pets at our centre and our
clients are kept well informed. In my spare time I enjoy the Great
outdoors, kayaking, cross country skiing, mountaineering, tramping,
cycling......
My animal menagerie consists of 2 horses, 1 goat and 2 dogs.

Dr Emily Ensor B.Sc, B.V.Sc 2002
Veterinarian
I have worked in several different practices in the South Island since graduating in 2003. Animals have always played a huge part in my life - growing up on a farm encouraged my interest and love for all creatures great and small.
The best thing about being a veterinarian is that every day brings new and exciting challenges. The main aim is to provide exceptional care to my patients (and their owners!)
My partner, Matt, and I, live on a lifestyle block which is also home to Barney the Airedale Terrier, Deirdre the tortoiseshell cat, Matt's lovely working dogs, my horses, some cattle and the odd sheep.
It is exciting to be part of the HVC team!

I have been a companion animal veterinarian for over 20 years now. I have worked overseas in Australia & U.K,
and here in Wellington, Balclutha, Alexandra & Whangarei. My heart is definately in the mainland!
I am still enjoying the challenges & rewards my career presents each day. Nowadays I am working part time so
I can enjoy my young son, Oliver, & develop my other interests. While not working or caring for my family
(which also includes my husband Paul, Spud a young XSPCA Beardie cross & my cat Mandu) my interests
include gardening, playing in the fabulous port hills, yoga, tramping, conservation, reading & music.

I
joined the HVC team in 1998. I have always loved the diversity of the

taken a step back from nursing to assist Ross with the day to day
running of a busy veterinary hospital. Otherwise I am busy at home with my boys Keegan and Ashton. Our furry family
consist of Travis the Cat and Whitney the Boxer. |

perfect, I also thoroughly enjoy the medical and scientific aspect of
my job.
My furry family consists of Filey and Keelo my two excitable
boxers, Deus, Shitten and Jam my moggies and last but not least my long suffering
partner Craig.
When I am not working I can be found out with my doggies,
gardening, attempting D.I.Y, baking then eating it and exercising!

as it has great diversity, and it is fanastic being able to make a difference to the quality of life of animals. I have a particular interest
in anaesthetic monitoring, and assisting in surgery.
I enjoy working at HVC as they are great bunch of people to work with, who all love animals as much as me!!
Out of work I enjoy spending time with my family .. including our fur babies 'Bree' & 'Thor' my two golden retrievers, and 'Rhubarb' our cat with cattitude.
I enjoy gardening, the odd bit of DIY around the house, reading, and taking the dogs out for a walk.

Jackie Saunders
Super sub - Veterinary Nurse
Jackie hates writing about herself. She is our highly valued off the
bench sub for us. Jackie brings a raft of skills and a cheerful
disposition every time she comes in. One day we will pin her down to
write about herself. |
Susan Morton
Veterinary Nurse
I have been part of the Hornby Veterinary Centre since 2003. With a young family to care for my focus these days is on running
my own dog behaviour consultancy and running the puppy school classes for HVC. Our family (Noah's Ark) consists of myself and my
husband, Hunter, and our two children, Angus and Xanthe, our two rescue dogs Allie, a Border Collie cross, and Ace, a black Labrador,
our two cats Poo Poo and Lottie and two miniature horses, Harry and Willy, and from time to time cattle which make it as far as our freezer.
Outside of the clinic and business I enjoy driving my horses and gardening when there is time for these!
